WHAT WE DO
Bliss Bridal Magazine is the ultimate guide for the modern bride.
We feature content that is 100% local with styled photoshoots and real weddings.
We hand-pick each featured vendor based on style, professionalism and quality. You can feel confident that you are working with a top quality vendor when working with our chosen vendors.
Bliss Bridal Magazine hosts two bridal shows per year. A Temple show that is in January and a Waco show that is in September.
Bliss Bridal Magazine also has a bridal etsy shop called Aniston Lane Gifts created by our founder and publisher.
In addition to publishing, Bliss is a branding firm for small business owners, specializing in the wedding industry. We design logos, business cards, marketing material, websites and more.
MEET ANGELA SIMS
Founder, Owner, Publisher, Designer
Growing up in little bity West, Texas, this small town girl had big town dreams. However, I never imagined them really coming true. It took hard times to give me the strength to say, “What do I have to loose”?
I can still remember the day I dreamed of Bliss! Rewind to November of 2011: my husband had been in the hospital fighting a rare brain fungus for almost a year, and my grandfather who raised me was fighting stage 4 cancer. I was working as an independent contractor on several graphic design jobs (a.k.a. “a struggling artist”). I had at this time 4 years of experience working with two bridal magazines, a local family magazine, and a newspaper. My husband was the breadwinner of the family until he fell ill. Times were tough, my current employer wasn’t paying me on time and with only $300 in our bank account, It came to the point where I had to ask myself, “Angela, are you going to sink or swim?”
After a motivational speech from my grandfather two weeks before he past, the encouragment of my clients at Georgio’s Bridal and Legacy Imaging I found myself sitting in the corner of my husbands hospital room one night designing mock up layouts, front covers, looking up photo shoot ideas and so on. Before I knew it I was designing a company logo and website and hit the streets of Austin. I had worked as a graphic designer for several local publications and knew the entire process of how to own a magazine but never imagined doing it myself. I knew that I needed to hire a team. I hired one sales person and an editor. I had no idea how I was going to pay for the publication, but I knew that God would provide, or my credit card-ha. After three months of hitting the streets of Austin, I had 49 clients who believed in Bliss and their ads alone paid for the first magazine. Since then we have grown to three publications, two bridal shows, a marketing company and have a bridal gift line.
Bliss is super small yall; we are not some big corporation, I do not have a secretary and yes, I even publish my own personal cellphone number. Bliss started with my husband, one editor, one sales person, and yours truly. That was it! I was not only the sole owner/founder and Publisher, but I was also in charge of sales, ad design, the ENTIRE magazine layout, photoshoots, updating our website, accounting, distribution, and all of the other Publisher duties! Luckily we have grown our staff of four to 11 since we started five years ago, but we are by no means ever going to lose that small business charm. I love that our clients can come to my home office, sit and design their ad face to face. I love that my staff and I attend our clients events, and help them with all marketing aspects- not publishing related… you know, those little things!
My husband and I met on Myspace in 2009, within two months he had proposed and within ten months we had tied the knot. This year we celebrated 6 years! We have a 3 year old son,Parker and a new son, Merritt due in May 2017.
My husband, Donny is a respiratory therapist and is currently finishing his degree to become a physcian’s assistant. I faint at the sight of blood, but as they say, opposites attract. 😉 I love starbucks, Elvis Presley, traveling, history, reading inspirational books, anything creative, singing in the car (literally it drives people crazy), oh and binge watching Netflix and Hulu – can’t forget that!
I am a believer in Christ, and in the past three years have grown my faith tremendously. I will tell anyone who will listen to my testimony. If my story can grow someone closer to God, that is my life mission.
